Executive Leadership

I currently serve as Chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment Group. Prior to Mandalay, I was Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Chairman and CEO of Polygram Entertainment, Co-Founder of Casablanca Record & Filmworks and President of Columbia Pictures.

I produced or executive produced (personally or through my companies) films that garnered five Best Picture Academy Award nominations (winning for Rain Man) and box office hits that include The Color Purple, Midnight Express, Batman, Flashdance, The Kids Are All Right, and Soul Surfer.

Entrepreneurial Expertise

I am Co-Owner and Co-Executive Chairman of the 2015, 2017 and 2018 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, an Owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and an Owner and Executive Chairman of Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). I am also Co-Chairman of aXiomatic, an esports and gaming company.

I am a noted author with works including Shootout: Surviving Fame and (Mis)Fortune in Hollywood, which became a 7-year television series on AMC, which I hosted. I wrote the cover article for the Harvard Business Review titled, The Four Truths of the Storyteller. UC Regent

In 2017, I was appointed to the University of California Board of Regents by the Governor of California, Edmund G. Brown Jr. During my 12-year term as a Regent of the University of California, I will be part of a governing board responsible for the oversight of all university affairs, providing guidance and perspective on important issues facing public higher education in California.

UCLA Medal

In 2017, I was given the UCLA Medal by UCLA’s CEO, Chancellor Gene Block, the highest honor for extraordinary accomplishment that may be bestowed upon an individual by UCLA.

Bay Area Council Business Hall of Fame

In 2018, I was inducted into the Bay Area Business Hall of Fame by the Bay Area Council, a business-sponsored, public policy advocacy organization for the nine-county Bay Area that proactively advocates for a strong economy, a vital business environment, and a better quality of life for everyone who lives here.
